Q: What is the Locsanity Community Impact Award, in partnership with LOCnificent Fest? 

A: This annual award, presented by Locsanity in partnership with LOCnificent Fest, recognizes two individuals making a significant positive impact in the community: one in the loc community (Loc Legacy) and one in the general community (Crowned in Community).

Q: Who is eligible to be nominated? 

A: Any individual actively serving the community is eligible. Importantly, the Loc Legacy category is for applicants with locs, while the Crowned in Community category is for applicants with loose, natural hair (including those wearing protective styles or rocking an afro). This includes stylists, educators, community organizers, entrepreneurs, advocates, wellness professionals, healers, and those who drive impact through creative arts or digital platforms. There is no age requirement, making this a unique opportunity to amplify youth entrepreneurs and leaders.

Q: Can I nominate myself? 

A: Yes, self-nominations are welcome. Please ensure your work clearly aligns with one of the defined categories and that you meet the hair type requirement for that category.

Q: Can I nominate more than one person? 

A: Yes, you can submit multiple nominations. Please submit a separate application for each nominee and clearly indicate the category for each nomination.

Q: What is the prize for the award recipients? 

A: There will be two award recipients, one for each category. Each recipient will receive a $1,500 cash prize, a trophy/acrylic award, and a commemorative certificate. There is no set limit to the total amount of awards an individual can have previously received from other sources.

Q: Where and when will the award be presented? 

A: The awards will be presented at the 7th annual LOCnificent Fest on Sunday, October 5th.

A: A selection committee comprised of representatives from Locsanity and the LOCnificent Fest organizing team, and one or more respected figures within the natural hair community, will review all nominations within their respective categories.

Q: Will finalists be announced? 

A: No; award recipients will be announced at the LOCnificent Fest.

Q: When will the award recipients be notified? 

A: Award recipients will be notified privately prior to the LOCnificent Fest to ensure their attendance for the live award presentation
